Returning To The D&D, Where It All Began

The much-anticipated return of John Boone Inc. to the D&D Building has finally arrived!

John Boone, with his partner Chris Lockwood and their staff, have reinstated their high style showroom in the building where it all began over 20 years ago.  The new space is as stunning and crisp as you might expect; I paid them a visit last week, and took some pictures of their furnishings which I’d like to share….

In my pursuit of home furnishings companies who manufacture in America, I have been discovering many who are working and producing right here in our own backyard.  New York has historically been  a center of manufacturing.  Yet with all of the closures and re-locations of industries over the years, which were previously centered here, there remain a handful of craftsmen and artisans still endeavoring to carry on the tradition of quality crafted furniture.  It is pleasantly reassuring to know that as a design center, New York has many such firms to collaborate with to realize one’s creative vision.

In a society that is focused on quick, affordable solutions on many fronts, we must not lose sight of what the end product of interior design is.  Quality equates to the finest level of luxury.  In endorsing this way of thinking, I have decided to spotlight those small local businesses who are striving to provide just such a product and service to a discerning audience.

new user-friendly website, same incredible style


On October 1st 1990, exactly 22 years ago today, John Boone and Chris Lockwood opened John Boone Inc. in New York City.  A lot has changed since their early days as showroom owners and collection curators, but their sense of style and personal taste remains the same.  This morning also marks the launch of their new website – to coincide with their anniversary.  It’s a virtual catalog of their classic home furnishings, and a welcome addition to luxury interior design shopping on the web.
