Hearst’s 3 shelter magazines Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and Veranda, in collaboration with three renown interior designers, have created another masterful presentation of talent, style and point of view this year – with each relating directly to their respective magazines’ editorial perspective.

The designer were charged with the task of creating a complete apartment for a specific ‘muse’ personality.  This is one of the only show house events which brings this type of breadth of design vision to view….

The site this year is the much acclaimed Walker Tower redevelopment located in the Chelsea neighborhood on Manhattan.  It is the JDS Development Group‘s and Property Markets Group‘s latest landmark residential property.  During my visit with CJ Dellatore to view the apartments, I was astounded at the fine level of workmanship as well as the finishes that are standard in the offering.  The 47 unique units that comprise the Walker Tower development are truly luxurious.

This years’ designers are Alessandra Branca for Elle Decor, Jamie Drake for House Beautiful, and Carlos Aparicio for Veranda.

Celebrated for her distinctive style and characteristic use of color, Alessandra Branca has transformed her apartment for Elle Decor into an exuberant-yet-relaxed downtown interpretation of an Upper East Side way of living for a family of 4 who’ve ventured downtown as the parents become ’empty-nesters’.

Here are some images for you to enjoy of her efforts…

Jamie Drake, with his passion for all things decorative, has created a chic urban flat for House Beautiful with the granddaughter of Jazz Age icon Josephine Baker as his muse. A modern women who entertains at home regularly, this single mother lives in an apartment with historic references of the Roaring Twenties in culture and architecture crafted by DDA.

Here are some photos of what Jamie and his talented team accomplished…

In a sophisticated and curatorial manner, Carlos Aparicio’s apartment for Veranda captures the essence of a gentleman collector’s passion for living with great examples of twentieth century decorative arts.  Spare and elegant, his home dispels the notion that minimalism is boring.

You can see for yourself how he has created a refined masculine sanctuary in these images….

There are few words with which I can express the depth of detail, and charisma that each of these 3 apartment holds.  I want to thank Newell Turner of The Hearst Design Group for inviting us to the see them, as well as Benjamin Moore Paints and California Closets for sponsoring the event.

[Please note that no public hours for viewing the show house have been announced]
