Highlights and Impressions

This year’s Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Decorator Show House features 18 interior designers who have spread their creative wings and have something to tell us about how they envision design in the present day.  From the understated elegance of the English style to a Vasarely-esque tableau, these 18 are making their statements via art, historic reference, classic appointments, and color.

The combination of the neo-traditional architecture of the Sharp townhouse (where this year’s Show House is located) with the sensibilities of each designer left me satisfied that each met the challenge and created very comfortable and livable spaces.  The common thread for me was the fact that there wasn’t any over-the-top unrealistic solutions.  Each room from the sedate to the quirky was suitable for you and I to live in, entertain in, carry on in, and feel comfortably at home in.

Here are a few snap shots of the spaces in no particular order.  My recommendation is to go and see for yourself how well done each designer’s room truly is.

Being the premiere Show House in New York City it is for certain a clear indicator of a new aesthetic.  The house will be open to the public at 161 East 64th Street everyday through June 4th, please go and support the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.  For further information you may go to their website.
